About Clip-Knix
The company formed in 2018 with a clear mission to assist elderly individuals, those with limited mobility, and individuals recovering from surgery. We understand the unique needs of our customers, and we design underwear that caters to those needs. Our underwear is not only easy to wear and put off, but it also eliminates the need for bending or stretching. It can be worn while sitting, standing, or lying down, depending on the customer’s frailty.
We have received fantastic feedback from our customers, especially those with chronic back pain, stroke, and other mobility issues. Our comfortable and easy-to-wear underwear has allowed them to experience a new level of comfort and freedom.
Funmi Lawal was born in England and had a stroke soon after childbirth at the age of 35. She experienced first-hand how reduced mobility can rob an individual of independence and dignity. Then ‘I couldn’t walk, bending down was painful and putting on underwear felt like a battle’. As a result of the stroke, I developed kidney failure which led to dialysis and eventual transplant in 2011. I saw a chance to help people with limited mobility and have spent years designing and testing clip-on knickers that will ultimately transform the lives of millions
I received to a Bachelor’s degree in Economics, a Master’s degree in Analysis, Design, and Management of Information Systems (ADMIS) from the London School of Economics and Political Science, and a professional qualification as a Prince2 practitioner. I have worked in the UK Civil Service for a decade, gaining valuable experience across three continents: Africa, Europe, and Asia.
As a trustee of the Royal Free Patient Kidney Association, an Advisor for billion-strong, and a member of Meaningful Business, my passion for helping others has been the driving force behind this enterprise. I am an Ambassador for Lady Rebel Club, I addressed MP on the eve of Kidney World 2023 and I was a guest speaker at Naidex 2023. I was named F:entrepreneur 2023 #ialso10 and featured in numerous national newspapers and magazines. Why Clip Knix™
To me it is not just a business enterprise, it is my passion for wanting to help others as I have experienced the same in life.My aim to see many people live independent lives as much as possible and positively.
The consequential application that arose from the product, such as pregnant women camping, hiking, bedroom antics etc was not primarily why it was initiated but initial reason was to help people with limited mobility.
Sustainability
At Clip-Knix, we value cotton for its sustainability and have incorporated it into our product range. Our commitment to eco-friendly practices extends to our shipping methods, utilizing sea transport to minimize our carbon footprint. We also consolidate multiple orders for the same customer into a single package to further reduce environmental impact. Our dedication to sustainability has earned us a high score on the SME Climate Hub platform.

Intelligent and Empathic Design
In collaboration with Innovate Product Design based in Salisbury, Clip-Knix focused on designing and manufacturing a practical yet fashionable underwear solution for women that negated the need to bend or stretch when dressing.
Product Description
Our design and research teams worked relentlessly. It was a seemingly non-stop process of ‘design, test, improve and test again’.
This wasn’t just about creating a practical product. Very often, these types of products look boring and feel uncomfortable. We wanted to give you something that was comparable to what you find in a high street fashion shop.
The result is underwear that can be fastened in the front without the need for bending or turning sideways.
The range will revolutionise the lives of many people by:
- Offering stylish underwear that is easy to use
- Preserving independence
- Maintaining dignity
- Reducing the risk of injury
The priority market for Clip-Knix is for those with limited mobility. However, during the R&D process we identified that the product would also be beneficial for anyone who needs to discreetly change in less-than-accommodating locations, such as an airplane bathroom or whilst hiking up a mountain. Careful and robust research has informed the development of a highly effective and attractive range of underwear that will ultimately work for everyone.
